steez biting

wrennybird asked an interesting question in a comment on the post about Ms. Kelly and Ms. Hepburn. She was curious as to who I would see as male analogues of the two women. Well , I couldn't narrow it down to just two.

Marcello has been on this blog before. His pictures never need much description nor support. He simply is stylish in an effortless manner. I always liked the fact that he was never wearing anything that was really out of the norm, but he wore it well. And he always seemed so cool. Plus he gets like ten cool points just for working with Fellini. That and since I have to wear glasses, I like that he looks quite dapper in them in this picture. Although whenever I try that move I look more like a crazy professor than a stylish Italian movie star...

Paul Newman. He seems the quintessential american guy. Nice suit. Sensible tie. Good sense of self-deprecating humor. Again, notice that there's nothing that sets this suit apart from the one in your closet. I think the difference with men and clothing is that a guy has to wear his suit, rather than let it wear him. It's all about confidence and a good fit. Newman pulls this off impeccably.

Gregory Peck. I mean, who looks better in Harris Tweed? He was Atticus Finch. I want to be Atticus. His performance and Harper Lee's novel are why I have a weak spot for girls with awesome names like scout. Plus who had more steez than he did in Roman Holiday? You try and be memorable when Audrey Hepburn is standing next to you.

steez biting

normally, I say no steez biting. But if you must, how about Marcello Mastroianni? Look here, he's sitting on a bidet and he has more style than us. Notice the links and simple vest and tie. Don't you wish you looked that cool when you smoked?
