nice jackets

Maybe it's just me, but when it's 90 degrees out I seem to want to wear jackets and sweaters, and when it's 40 below I want a nice pair of seersucker shorts. These jackets have been calling my name. The only thing holding me back is I know if I bought them now, I'd end up being way too tempted to try and wear them. The only thing worse than sunglasses at night/indoors is wearing clothing that will give you heatstroke because it makes you look cool.

I've only seen a handful of fishtail parkas that I think could work. I found this one through Mono magazine. Mono is a Japanese magazine, so all I know about this jacket is it costs 14,490 yen and it's called the M-51 field parka. That and if she notices the fishtail it means she was checking out your rear end. Check it out here.

I have a moonstone jacket. I really like it because it's extremely light and really packable. It's perfect in a lot of situations. You can wear it as a middle layer underneath a shell or on it's own. I always end up wearing mine way too deep into the winter. It's a great 'sprint to the car from your front door or you'll die of hypothermia' jacket. Get it at your favorite camping/outdoor store. I like REI.

Saved the best for last. The boys over at h(y)r pointed this Albam jacket out. The madras print is sweet-just make sure it's a slimmer fit-a baggy fit with a print like this could lead people to confuse you for a couch. I love the hood too. I never really pull my hoods up, but I think a good hood always adds to your silhouette. I also have a sneaking suspicion that your girl would add this to her steal from your closet list. Buy it here.

nice jackets

Spring is on its way. For me this means rain and the occasional cold night. So I have a lot of anoraks and windbreakers. Here are a few I'd pick up.

This LRG jacket is cool. Although it may be a bit members only for some. The high collar is a good touch. Pick it up at karmaloop

Nom de guerre's anti-exposure anorak has a cool name and will make you wish you lived in seattle just because it rains a lot. Oki-ni has it.

I have an Arc'Teryx shell and I love it. They look cool and do their job really well. Get this light weight jacket at rei

stuff for your girl

There's something about a girl  who can pull of a good jacket. Especially a leather jacket. For some reason I'm rather nonplussed about leather jackets for guys. I don't mind them. But on girls, I co-sign for sure. I knew a girl once who always rocked this slouchy black leather blazer. She kept the sleeves at quarter length, wore painted on cigarette jeans, smoked Dunhills, and wrote the best papers in our Media Aesthetics class.

It was kind of like this blazer from Asos. Get your girl this one and you'll probably even get cooler by association.

Even though it isn't leather, I think this Parkside military style blazer is pretty cool. I totally wouldn't be bummed  if my girl showed up with this on. Nasty Gal wins again with this pick.

If your girl already owns a jacket like this,  marry her. Or at least propose. Although it's a double-edged sword. She might be so cool you'll feel inferior all the time...

Maybe you should try and get your girl sponsored by Nasty Gal. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

nice jacket

This Junya Watanabe x Comme Des-Garcons jacket is great. You can rock it with some rick ross white on white sneakers, jeans and a v-neck. Or you can throw a bespoke shirt and tie underneath it. Either way you're going to be the coolest guy in the room. Well at least the guy with the nicest jacket.

when they ask, tell everyone you got it at colette

stuff for your girl

So where I'm from it's freezing. Below it actually. So before things get to absolute zero be a nice guy and get your old lady something to keep her warm. Although I'm sure puffy coats are warm, honestly, let her buy that herself. Get her a coat that Nancy Kwan would wear.

First up is this hooded number from WeSC. Double breasted to keep the wind out. Reminds me of that girl who knows that Liquid Swords is the best Wu Tang solo record and wears high heels. Beautiful and smart too.

Next, this herringbone wool coat from Spiewak. The detail on the collar and buttons sets this coat apart. Next, get your lady some good gloves.

Get them both at Karmaloop.
