stuff to do

I only took one English class at university, it was a short fiction class, but we didn't discuss any of Salinger's work. So I was pretty excited when I stumbled across this lecture. I'm quick to poke fun at the uselessness of the internet and television, but then something like this pops up. I promise this will be the last post about Franny and Zooey, maybe. Probably not. An interesting lecture to say the least. Grab some tea and a good snack.

I am a huge fan of Salinger. I connected with Holden even at a young age, being that I read Catcher in the Rye at the young age of 13. Right before my Bar Mitzvah. So I am quit partial to JDS. If you ever wanna talk about it, email me. I love discussing literature. I should have been a literature professor, if only I could pass a class myself.

You don't ever have to stop posting about Franny and Zooey. Have you read his other works? My absolute favorite anything of anything is Raise High The Roofbeams, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction. They're so different from each other, in terms of narrative style, and Seymour is definitely a little more mad, but I love them. They just feel so sincere- unedited, and completely belonging to him.

And I understand why so many people like Catcher in the Rye, but personally, I don't at all. I've thought about this, and realized it's because I am totally a reluctant Holden Caufield. Because I too think everything is bullshit, including Holden. Which just brings about this whole spiral of self-loathing and bullshit-calling that I can't even begin to delve into.
